math confidence starts with the basics

Is Your Child Struggling With Math?

Math struggles can feel overwhelming for kids and parents alike. Maybe your child comes home in tears over homework, says they’ll “never get it,” or avoids math altogether. It’s tough to watch them feel defeated and anxious about something so essential to their future. But here’s the good news: math doesn’t have to be a source of frustration or fear. With the right support and mindset, your child can rediscover their potential and build lasting confidence in math—and in themselves.

Hi, I’m Lauren!

I’ve spent over 7 years as a middle school math teacher and 12 years as a tutor, helping students of all abilities develop confidence and master foundational skills.

I’m passionate about helping kids find their confidence in math and supporting them to see their full potential. With 9 years as a middle school math teacher and over 12 years of tutoring experience, I’ve worked with hundreds of students, including those with dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, and other learning differences. I know firsthand how frustrating math can feel when it doesn’t click right away—I struggled with math myself as a child.

In 8th grade, I was placed in a high school algebra course but fell behind due to a medical situation. That year was a turning point for me—not because I thrived, but because I struggled. I felt defeated, and my confidence plummeted. It wasn’t until college, when I took an elementary education math course, that I rediscovered the beauty of math. Hands-on learning, patterns, and engaging activities helped me see math differently—and that’s exactly the approach I bring to my students today.

My goal isn’t just to help kids “get through” math; it’s to help them see that math is approachable, and even fun. I believe in creating a low-pressure, supportive environment where mistakes are celebrated as steps toward success. Together, we’ll make math a source of confidence, not anxiety.
